Femme Osage is an area in Missouri, before 1799 when Daniel Boone migrated to Missouri. the term means Osage woman, Femme, being french for woman. Folk lore is that a female osage woman was killed while trying to ford the local creek, which was named for her by the Osage Indians. this area is relatively untouched since that time. the property of the 600 acre was once owned by the Boone family. there are large groves of walnut tree at the entrance.
