We are a holiday cottage agency based in Poole, England specialising in properties in The far south west of Cornwall, England. Business comes virtually 100% from the web and there is lots of competition so we want to make the front page stand out and make it easy for users to view our small range of top quality cottages.
Customers tend to be over 25 and although school holidays are the most popular, the most important group are those that can come outside of these times- couples with no children or below school age and particularly those in the 50-65 age group whose children have left home or are independent.
These users tend not to be ultra enthusiastic web users and some will be very cautious and inexperienced online.
7 icons are required to represent the following categories on the site which will be prominent buttons:
sleeps 1-4 cottages
sleeps 5+ cottages
view all cottages
pet friendly cottages
Porthleven cottages
Mousehole & far West cottages
Marazion & far West cottages
only one of the last two will be used
Note that the front page latest is going to change to brown colours more like the colour scheme on the original but the position and size of the buttons will be the same.
I'm looking for bright cartoon like icons with a small cottage for sleeps 1-4, large cottage for sleeps 5+ and several cottages for view all cottages.
see attached files for how the icons will be used on front page latest. Front page version 1 shows my original concept and I want the icons to be closer to the look and feel of that.
At the moment the plan is for 115 pixel square icons with the text separate but the whole button could be an image which would be 270 wide x 140 pixels high
attached cottage icon guide gives an indication as well as some pictures of our cottages which could inspire.
attached places guide shows a few images for each. Porthleven is defined by the clock tower, marazion by St Michaels mount and Mousehole by the harbour wall or the famous book 'The Mousehole Cat'
I also like the work of local artist David Hosking see http://www.picturehousegalleries.co…bition.php
This is my first try with 99designs so please bear with me- all help and feedback gratefully received.
