Royal Adelaide Show http://www.theshow.com.au
My role is to manage the rural projects at the Royal Show and to showcase and educate to city people the importance of farming and agriculture in our daily lives.
The Charter of the Royal Show set in 1839 is to reward excellence through competition and this still stands today in particular through agriculture. Another website to look at to get an understanding around the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society is http://www.rahs.com.au
The 'Thank and Farmer' icon should appeal to 6-14 year olds and the family unit. It should be something that a modern farmer would be happy to have represent their industry.
The 'Thank A Farmer' icon should not be hick or hill billy in style ie; a picture of a farmer in overalls with straw hanging out of his mouth.
It should be representative of the modern day industry. The words 'Thank A Farmer' should be built into the icon.
The icon will be used on posters, flyers, as a stand alone icon on a badge to be worn by Show goers and farmers and on directional/informational signage.
When the public at the Show see this icon it should identify items, products or animals that a farmer has been involved in producing. It should be a fun learing experience raising peoples awareness with a simple but important message ........ the extensive range of things we have to Thank A Farmer for.
