This blog site will exist on a company intranet to document a working tour by our Company’s CEO. The Company was founded by the CEO in 1983 and remains a family-owned lending business headquartered in Seattle, Washington. The Company currently has approximately 130 retail locations in five western states including Washington, Colorado, Idaho, California and Nevada. The Company also has 5 retail stores in British Columbia, Canada and operates on the Internet.
At this year’s annual managers conference, the CEO announced that he would be touring and working throughout the Company in each of the stores and departments in an effort to “connect” with each and every employee and encourage them to better “connect” with one another and the Company’s customers.
The blog site should have a “travel” and/or “connect” theme that showcases the Company’s markets. The site is intended to allow employees to:
1. See where the CEO will be visiting next;
2. Read and contribute stories of excellent customer service, an example of outstanding team work or some other “employee-related” highlight that the CEO learned about in his last store visit;
3. See pictures of store and department visits;
4. View video footage shot on the visits; and
5. Blog about what is going on in their store or department or comment on an entry.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The Company employs approximately 1,000 people who are the blog sites “Target Audience.” Employees can be roughly described in three groups. The first and largest group consists of retail employees for whom this may be their first “professional” job. Employees are required to go through training, wear professional attire and are engrained with a culture of “treating our customers they way that you want to be treated.” That culture includes a high degree of professionalism, courtesy and customer service.
A second group of employees are those who work at a “management level.” There are retail store managers and assistant managers. District managers oversee a number of store managers and retail locations in a given area. There are also approximately 20 to 40 department managers and people who function as assistant department managers at the corporate level.
The final and smallest group is senior management who function at a “director” or “vice president” level.
We want a polished, professional, easy to navigate site that is upbeat and fun. Attached is an example of a site with a “traveling” theme that has the depth & sophistication we like. Entries do not need to look like this site - it's just a reference.
We would like xml flash photo/s and/or flash video/s and be able to highlight employee photographs on the home page. We would also like a “gallery” where old photos can be placed for viewing and storage by month and year when they are no longer current. The home page should have a place for "Connections" (news) “Features,” “Recent Comments” and an advice column featuring the CEO’s dogs: Entitled “Ask Buck and Hank” or "Canine Connection."
The site navigation should be across the top: “Calendar” “Gallery” “Connect with Dennis” “Links” “Search.”
Please use web friendly fonts and incorporate our Company’s mission statement in the footer:
