CyclingForSinai.com
On Labor Day, 2010, we're heading out on a cross-country cycling 2,600-mile journey following the “Southern Tier” route to raise funds for a new building for Chicago’s Mt. Sinai Hospital. The trip is led by Steve Koch, chairman of the board of Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Steve is using the cross country trip as a fundraiser for the much needed new hospital building. Steve will be reaching out to his friends and network to support him in his journey. They can support in two main ways:
1. making a donation to Mt. Sinai, or
2. joining Steve for a portion of his ride.
We’re building a website to serve as the central communication point for this fantastic (and maybe a tiny bit crazy) journey., CyclingForSinai.com should help spread the word, raise funds, recruit cyclists interested in joining us, and generally engage our community in a dialog about this project and goals.
WEBSITE GOALS:
1. Generate awareness of the trip
2. Encourage visitors of the site to make a donation
3. Facilitate the logistics of those interested in joining Steve for a portion of the ride
4. Serve as a central communication vehicle for Steve and his community around the trip
The site will be promoted to the hospital's community as well as Steve's network. We want them to be engaged by the site and to participate in the trip through updated content, photos, videos, and joining along for a portion of trip. They might be armchair travelers or dedicated cyclists themselves. Either way, the site should be engaging, fun, and, most important, capture the reason for the trip.
Visually, the site should present information in a clean manner that puts content before overall site design. The site should present a design that feels warm, fun, inviting, energetic and most importantly, committed to the journey and the cause. Visitors to the site should be drawn in with the excitement and purpose of the trip. Have fun with the design!
We're attaching a project brief, logo, site map, and wireframes of key pages. Please make sure you look these over, as the site design should support the content, navigation, and functionality specified within these documents.
The wireframes are provided to show what is going to be on each page, but feel free to be creative about sizing, placement, and layout. You don't have to follow the wireframes literally - we welcome ideas!
Your design should work on each of the three pages wireframed. Bonus points for showing multiple pages in your design, and for showing the three big call-outs on the homepage.
We're very excited to see your designs and will be active participants in this process. Feel free to send us questions and don't hesitate to post designs even if their just early concepts that you want feedback on before going into detail.
Thanks!
