Universal Slate International, Inc. (http://www.universalslate.com) is going to be doing a re-brand in May, 2011. Our business was started in 1989 and has since grown to over 25 employees with sales across Canada and the United States.
We are going to be spinning off a new brand that is going to be only involved in commercial sales. Universal Slate is eventually going to be changing its name to USI as a parent or umbrella company and the new brand, Sota Surfaces will be the commercial arm of USI. However, Sota Surfaces as a brand will be in use almost immediately.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We sell tile products (stone, glass, quartz, porcelain, etc.) for large buildings to a very design-savvy crowd of commercial interior designers and architects.
We would like to differentiate ourselves strongly from our competitors with a strong and unique identity. Below is a list of our immediate competitors:
The logo will initially be used for our website http://www.sotasurfaces.com (in development), business cards, and other forms of print media.
We are looking for a logo/wordmark that does not necessarily include the word "surfaces", it can just focus on the Sota. Sota can also be in all caps, SOTA.
*Solid pantone colors (up to 3)
*Please present the logo in 3 color-ways (color on white, color on black, black-and-white)
*Please do not include any "web 2.0 reflections"
*There should be no relation between the Universal Slate logo and Sota Surfaces. Sota is a completely new and independent brand.
* We will initially be using printing from moo.com for business cards and promotional material
Eventually, we'll be using the design for embroidering on shirts, etc. and so the logo needs to be fairly portable into a variety of formats.
