cloudfactory.com
CloudFactory.com offers a web-interface and platform API to crowdsource your digital work to our "virtual assembly lines". We break projects up into small tasks and use microworkers around the world to perform each task then gather everything back up into your project results. (heard of Amazon Mechanical Turk?)
You can design your own assembly line or use one of our pre-built ones such as (image tagging, content filtering/moderation, transcription, data entry, translation, survey, geocoding businesses, etc). Then you can run multiple production runs on these assembly lines in the cloud by providing input data via spreadsheet, RSS feed or even a zip file. Or you can use the CloudFactory API to send work to your assembly line from a web application, desktop application or even integrate with your enterprise workflow.
Each virtual assembly line has one or more stations and at each station you designate either a human worker or a robot worker to perform the task. Think cloud labor meets cloud computing.
We also work with field partners in developing countries to train up and equip microworkers to do this sort of basic computer work. It is our goal and main motivation to provide work for people in the least developed countries wherever possible. We love what Kiva has done with microloans and would love to have a similar impact using microwork.
We are targeting technical and business folk that love Web 2.0 and know what crowdsourcing is. People with tedious and boring work they want to outsource to our virtual assembly lines. And also actual developers wanting to build their own applications using our API and tools.
Competitive companies in our space include mTurk.com, CrowdFlower.com, CloudCrowd.com, ShortTask.com.
Small businesses, Entrepreneurs, Consultants, Researchers, Non-profits have data service and research based work that can easily be done fast and cheap using cloudfactory.com.
Obviously "cloud" and "factory" bring up some instant imagery. But the name is less about a factory that produces clouds and more about a FACTORY IN THE CLOUD.
Blue, white, grey/silver are obvious colors that come to mind but we are open.
the ".com" is optional or perhaps smaller/grey
Fun, industrial, web 2.0 are words that come to mind. Tasteful/professional cartoony could work opposed to a boring IBM style logo.
But we want to see your creativity! Think virtual factory, virtual assembly line with humans and robots, think cloud computing meets cloud labor ... and have fun with it!
