We sell clean all natural certified Berkshire pork. We do not give any antibiotics nor hormones. They are raised naturally outdoors. They are feed a non-GMO and non-soy feed.
The Berkshire breed of pig is like the Angus cow of the pork industry. It's the only breed that has natural marbling in the meat. Last year at national pork taste contest, where they judge pork on tenderness, juiciness, and overall flavor, the top 22 placing pigs were Berkshires.
Commercial hog farms feed strictly corn and soy. These two ingredients are 90% genetically modified and are consistently sprayed with herbicides such as Roundup. Pigs store any and all chemicals and medication in their fat cells so we consume what they consume. Pigs will also take on the flavor of its feed. Corn and Soy are very bland. My feed is an all natural (non-genetically modified) peanut meal based feed which gives the pork a nuttier flavor.
My target customer are higher end restaurants that would sell top cuts of meat. Secondly, they are also healthy meat eaters that consumer clean all natural meats. Direct customers would mostly be at local farmers markets.
Berkshire pigs are black with white feet and white on their forehead and snot area (see pic below). I have often visualized the logo (Juicy Pork) pink with bubble letters, but i think that is a little too feminine and maybe playing off the "Juicy" brand a little too much. It's also may refer to a pink pig which the Berkshire breed is not.
Also, I need help with a website. I own the domain name http://www.juicypork.com I currently have a web hosting company that I would switch from if possible. Please let me know options are here.
