Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
In his first-ever editor's letter, the magazine's founder wrote that "Esquire aims to be the common denominator of masculine interests—to be all things to all men.” Seventy seven years later, that still sums up what we do and who we're doing it for.
Esquire wants you to transform its iconic logo (available for reference at esquire.com) for a special portfolio in its February 2011 issue. There are no real creative limitations: provided this transformed logo includes seven letters (E-S-Q-U-I-R-E), it could be any number of things:
--A two-dimensional typographical or graphic treatment with fonts, shapes, and colors of your choosing;
--An animated video (a still of which we’d show in the pages of the magazine, with the full work available on our iPad app and web site);
--A sculpture or 3-D rendering that you’ve photographed and sent to us.
The top designs will be featured (and their designers identified) in a permanent gallery on http://esquire.com while the Grand Prize winner will receive $500 and see his or her work appear in the February 2011 issue of Esquire.
NOTE: The transformed logo does not have to mimic or otherwise resemble the current Esquire logo in any way; the more experimental and innovative your design, the more we are likely to choose it.
