We are a small team of exploration drillers that are starting a new company that will work for large mining companies.
Our teams will go to remote locations all over the world to help in the exploration process of discovering elements such as gold, copper and iron ore.
We often work in hot and dirty conditions which are a big challenge but our clients insist that we are very careful with the work we do. We must operate safely and cleanly and not cause any unnecessary damage to the environment. They expect that we have rigorous systems and procedures in place to ensure we meet all their requirements.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Large and mid-sized international mining companies are our clients.
It's an established market that's highly competitive.
The people that buy our services are people that have been in mining for many years. Sometimes with a geological background or perhaps worked in a mining and exploration role themselves.
They're often a bit conservative in their thinking and can't afford to take risks. They want to work with service providers they can trust to get the job done without making any big mistakes or mess.
A very experienced person in our industry has always said that drilling is 20% skill and 80% perception. Our brand will be the first step toward us reassuring our clients that we are the right people with the right culture and thinking.
Our competitors come in all shapes and sizes. But many of the small ones( and some of the bigger ones) have corporate id's that look like they were designed by the driller themselves on the kitchen table (with some help from clipart). We certainly want to set ourselves apart from this image.
We want to have an image that looks like we're already a big player.
We'd like the font you use to be some where in the style region of helvetica.
The colour scheme probably needs to be a little subdued.
We've attached a couple of images that might help with creating a graphic device. The drill bits (hammers) are what goes to the bottom of the hole to dig in to the earth. The small dots or pimples are what cuts in the rock as the drill bit spins. A suggestion perhaps is to create a graphic device that uses those tungsten pimples laid out in a similar circular style and in some way give the impression of the them spinning.
These pimples could be in a contrasting colour to the text.
We're really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
