Money & Company (http://www.MoneyandCompany.com)
Just shy of 40, I'm an award-winning entrepreneur with solid, blue-collar roots. Married 15 years (to the same man), I have three children (ages 13, 12 and 6) and my husband is a stay-at-home Dad. The first in my family to graduate from college, I'm a demanding (and recovering) over-achiever. And my parents are particularly proud my resume now includes Georgetown University, Harvard Business School and CPA.
As Founder & CEO of The Judgment Group, I was named to Fortune Magazine's 2009 List of the Ten Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs (http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2009…une/8.html) and earned a spot among nine Female CEOs in Ernst & Young's 2009 Winning Women Program (http://www.ey.com/US/en/Newsroom/Ne…en-program). A serial entrepreneur, I truly believe women's economic independence gives women (and their families) choices they wouldn't otherwise have. Like many who grew up in the 70's, I watched so many women work long hours as stay-at-home moms, head chefs, and housekeepers while they stayed married to men they didn't love simply because they didn't feel they had a choice b/c they didn't have the skills, experience or money to support themselves.
Focused on regular women - eager to build a better future for themselves and probably their families. Ages 25-50, half have college degrees, but they've never really considered themselves powerful career women.
Most are married or divorced and either have kids or hope to have children. They live in communities all over the country and desperately want to find a way to build a solid financial future - but have no idea how to really go about it.
Money & Company represents an aspiration for our target market. The goal is to establish credibility, prestige and trust - without being pretentious.
I'm not a fan of reinventing the wheel and I'm under a tight deadline, so I looked at the brands I'm attracted to and the marketing I appreciate and am drawn to. That includes Apple, American Express Platinum and BMW. All three have very clean designs that are essentially two colors - platinum/gray/silver logo on a white background or the exact reverse.
I envision a scrolling name: Money & Company with a feminine touch but not too feminine. I like the idea of a bit of "bling" to make the name pop, but it's not a requirement. But it can be anything from a simple deep red ladybug w/black dots to regal & bejeweled ladybug (= good luck & our target market) or some other "bling" concept. I don't want trashy or urban. No dollar signs. I want understated and elegant.
Though a bit busy from a design standpoint, an example of the bling theme is the Cartier Women's Business Initiative award (http://www.cartierwomensinitiative.com/cms/). Citi has a female focused financial services concept (https://www1.citibank.com/womenandco/), but I find it plain and far from engaging.
I don't want pink or anything too girly. Men are a secondary market so I don't want to turn them off completely. And I'd like to limit cost so playing with the font so it can be printed on plain white paper without a four color process is ideal. I'd love it to be beautiful even if it's grayscale.
