My name is Jeff. I started a business with my good buddy Peter. We both hate mosquitos with a passion. We're interested in NOT being just another boring company/website/blip on the local radar. We want an slick, clean, modern website with catchy graphics and clean lines. We want the site and the marketing materials to POP, to demand attention, not because of some "wow/shock factor" but because they are clean, catchy and aesthetic in and of themselves. We want to come off as professional yet a little fun--not too dry, but still keep that discerning professional edge that says we're not just a company that's flying by night, a brief startup that'll be gone tomorrow. We want Fortune 500 written all over our PR and marketing. We love catchy branding.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Some of our products cost some bucks. After all, if you wanna kill some skeeters you gotta crack a few eggs, so to speak. They range in price from $99 - $499 and even up from there. So we're trying to appeal to a middle-upper class customer. A family man/woman, usually with kids and pets. Someone who doesn't want their kids or pets sick with West Nile virus. Someone who owns some land (backyard, frontyard, etc.) and likes to use it and not be snacked on while they're trying to do so. Your basic "all American" family is out target. Again, importance on maintaining a professional edge--NOTHING CHEESY--but that demands attention and means business, literally. We want to look like we've been around for 100 years and have a networks of retailers, etc.
We want the logo to be:
Effective (grabs attention because it's GREAT, not for shock value)
Good use of colors (RED, DARK GRAY, WHITE, BLACK)
No cheesy illustrations or gimmicks to get attention, but creative is good
Also, and this would be a major plus, something that shows that we are green. Our products are all-natural, and we'd love our clients to know that, but without making the fact dominate in the logo/illustration. Maybe a touch of the color green in the logo to make this point, or a leaf, or something of the sort to give this idea in an obvious way, without making a complete show of it.
