I am a professional translator for Spanish, English and German based on Lanzarote (Canary Islands). After establishing an international client base online (translation agencies, companies), I would like to capture the island`s market (corporate clients). Most of the websites, flyers etc. here on the island have been translated in a very unprofessional way, thus conveying an unfavourable image of the prospective hotel, business or institution. The logo should therefore indicate that House of Translation offers a professional and at the same time personal and individual language service, which is committed to representing the business (and the island) in a highly professional way through precise, accurate and powerful translations. I am a one-woman translation business, I love my job and I would like to convey that words are so powerful that we should learn to use them in the most efficient way when trying to gain international clients or when trying to sell the unique holiday destination "Lanzarote" (which is currently immersed in crisis) to the world.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
I am targeting the islands market: local medium-sized companies, tourism boards, hotels and resorts. As I am already working for international clients online (translation agencies and high-profile companies) the logo should serve both needs.
As I am working on an image "update", I will eliminate my old (quite unprofessional) logo, so feel free to create a completely new one without any restrictions. You can take a look at my old design at http://www.house-of-translation.eu
Regarding the colours, I prefer clear and strong colours and contrasts (e.g. dark blue and white). A simple, appealing and professional design. I liked the idea of the circle mixing with the brand name (see website), but it was elaborated in a very ragged way. Feel free to use this as a starting point or create something absolutely new.
Although I usually used dark blue for my old logo, I am open for different colours (e.g. I like the FedEx-logo, which is quite colourful).
Please send in vector based art, so the image can be resized without losing quality.
I have received many designs in blue and with globes. However, many translation agencies use globes, so some alternative symbols, signs and colours would be very much appreciated.
