I write and edit magazine articles, blog posts, white papers, web copy, press releases and pretty much anything that involves words. I call myself a word nerd. I also coach people who need help with their writing, primarily in business environments.
A lot of small businesses that do what I do use clip art of quills and ink. I have "Ink" in my name, so it makes sense for me to play with the idea of pens and ink, too, but I would want to do it in a distinctive way. Above all, I want to communicate professionalism and creativity and inspire confidence. I want to say that clients who use me can stop worrying; everything will be turn out great, but I also want to communicate that I have fun with my work, and I think the most confident people have a sense of humor, so a dash of humor would be good. I love the idea of having some sort of character that I can move to my website and that can take on different expressions, like a pen that's proud of itself, but that might be hard to introduce in a logo. I also like the idea that ink is a raw material that can become anything, a source from which ideas flow.
