**Note: Please read the comments at the bottom of the contest page where I have given general feedback to all of the designers. Also we have given individual feedback to everyone.**
I am manager of the band Memorial Beach and several other acts in the Indie, Pop, and Pop/Jazz scene...
We have just signed an act called "Memorial Beach" and are seeking a logo for them. The logo must be artistic but professional, in other words not afraid to take risks but at the same time not too over the top. The band's website (with their self-made demos) is http://www.memorialbeachmusic.com. This site being redone to fit the style of the new logo. Here is a prototype of the new site (temporary address) - http://www.commonhouseholditems.com. We would like to highlight and liven up this black background according to the colours of the new logo when all is complete.
I don't like the idea of rewarding only the 'best' logo so we will buy at least one more logo and up to three more for $50 each when the contest is finished. These will serve as alternate logos for t-shirts, posters, etc. Only the top logo will get the full prize money of $400.
Broad audience of all ages into 70s/80s, Indie, Pop, or Rock.
We require the following two things:
1. Most importantly, a 'main' logo that would be roughly the shape of the top frame on the prototype site or fill that space completely. Here is the top frame I am referring to: http://www.commonhouseholditems.com…es/hbg.png
2. A similar companion logo in roughly similar style but perfectly square (in order to easily put on merchandise like stickers and on websites like Myspace). This logo should have just the initials of the band "MB" blended together or stylized somehow.
I have provided some examples of logos as guidelines for how said logo should look, however if you have a different idea that you think would work well then we encourage you to take risks.
Here are some examples of logos we like:
http://www.rooney-band.com/news/ - Sun rays in the background might fill the site's frame nicely.
http://www.gamestate.org/wp-content…/atari.jpg - Rounded lettering is an example of a font that might be nice or some other 80s/modern styled font.
http://www.bertranprojects.com/word…es1999.jpg - Outlined lettering is nice however perhaps a bit too much outlining in this particular example. Perhaps only certain letters should have a double line and others only a single thin line.
(continued from above section...)
http://www.melodynelson.com/images/…pooner.jpg - Good example of how the outlining could 'blend' certain letters together. The little picture also would work well within a smaller square logo.
http://static.gigwise.com/gallery/h…tagram.jpg - Another logo that would work good as a square. We have to come up with something else that is more specific to this band though.
http://static.gigwise.com/gallery/t…s-logo.jpg - Some nice colours and shading. Other colours that might work would be various shades of orange, red, and perhaps a little yellow or purple - sunset colours.
Remember, if you have another idea that inspires you then run with it and your vision may turn out to be just what we were looking for (see 'wants' section to help generate ideas). I will be checking in on this page periodically and posting my reactions to the submissions.
• professional - looks like it would be the logo of a well established act
• hybrid between modern & 80s/disco, also modern but very slightly organic (see keane logo: http://i42.tinypic.com/2ij29te.png)
• any file format is fine.
Nothing too flashy but not too simple either. We do not want any palms trees/umbrellas or any cheesy beach imagery. Also no guitars, musical notes or equipment on stage.
