New Media Magnet
I began podcasting in 2005 by producing and hosting The WordPress Podcast which went on to be the #1 WordPress-related podcast worldwide. I've spoke at the 2008 New Media Expo and was lead organizer of WordCamp Dallas, one of the most successful WordCamps to date.
I began consulting several years ago assisting other entrepreneurs and Internet marketers with some of the more technical aspects of blogging, podcasting, new media and social media.
I am now attempting to revitalize my brand to cover more than just WordPress by naming my company New Media Magnet, LLC and I'm planning to launch a mostly membership-only tutorial screencast site in 2010 which will teach entrepreneurs, Internet marketers and small business owners how to install blog software, read and use analytics packages, iPhone and Android apps that are useful, etc.
I haven't yet decided on a slogan or tagline, but the name was chosen to appeal to business people who want to learn how to use new media techniques such as podcasting, blogging, etc. to "attract" customers, hence the name, "New Media Magnet".
My target audience are entrepreneurs, Internet marketers, podcasters and small business owners who want to use new media techniques (blogging, audio and video podcasts) as well as social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and other Internet technologies to enter Internet marketing and/or expand their marketing reach, but feel overwhelmed at the more technical aspects of doing so.
I will demonstrate in detail how to set up mailing lists and databases, tweak blog themes, etc. and answer any questions that may arise.
I'm looking for a high quality logo and associated color scheme to represent both my company and the tutorial screencast site with the same name. I'd like the logo and the company name to be separate from one another, but be able to use them in conjunction with one another as appropriate. A good example of that is WordPress': http://wordpress.org/about/logos/
I begin this contest with no preconceived ideas on how the logo should look, but it should follow these guidelines:
1. It should be relevant: I'm communicating the help and handholding of an expert in the technical aspects of Internet marketing to business people who are not as tech savvy and hope to attract paying customers, not necessarily magnets in the literal sense.
2. It should be memorable and describable: My desire is that, when people see the logo you create they will immediately think, "Oh yeah! That's a good place to learn the basics of new media marketing!"
3. It needs to be scalable: This logo will represent my project on web pages, t-shirts, business cards and large advertisements. I need it to be distinguishable whether it's 1 inch tall or 10 feet tall.
4. It should work with or without color: There will be situations when the logo will only be printed in one color. It needs to work then as well.
