Our youth ministry is part of a large evangelical church in South Jersey. Our style is unique, complete with a Christian-Teen skateboarding network, DJ-led worship nights with Christian rappers and a group of gifted musicians and actors.
The purpose of our ministry is to show kids that there's a better way to live than the self-destructive lifestyle often chosen by the 21st century teen; one that is exciting, purposeful and centered on Jesus Christ.
The name, "Remix 14:6" is brand-new and was picked by the students. We haven't started using it yet. Once we have the logo, we'll have a big event complete with the unveiling of our new name on banners, media, gear, printed materials, etc.
We used to be called "Pulse". It didn't stick, then it died. I've attached that old logo just so you know where we "were" about a year ago. When I came on board as youth pastor, I officially put the fork in Pulse. We currently have no name.
Our location puts us in the middle of a very diverse area in South Jersey. We have kids that come from affluent suburban neighborhoods, the inner city and everything in between. Because of this location, we seek to reach teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18 of every race, income and style. Our existing group is already reflective of this make-up. We have a "come as you are" mentality, and desire to minister to the both the churched and unchurched high school student.
The logo must be appealing to teens. Something that they'll wear on a T-Shirt and that will catch the attention of other students. The design must be flashy and exude positivity.
The youth group will be called "Remix" by the teens, not "Remix 14:6". Designs with and without the 14:6 will both be considered. If included in the design, the 14:6 should not overshadow Remix.
A cross in the logo would be a plus, but it shouldn't be so prominent that its the first thing you notice.
DJ-style art would be cool, but avoid going too hip-hop.
