I don't want a "spine" per say in the pictoral mark in the logo, but perhaps a modern scientific pic of a human body with the nerves coming down the legs leading up to the vertebrae.
Nothing outdated - think 21st century modernism and science.

Add something like the side of a terminator face (like from the movie) with the red eye. You can add the face in the"o" of terminator.
we want something unique and something that is going to tell people that we are terminating their blistering pain! Something with personality but also professionalism - not animated - more serious.
