We are a professional Ruby on Rails development company doing our own side project with the goal of generating a large amount of simple computer work to people from developing countries. Our first two sites are SpreadsheetArmy.com and BizcardArmy.com. *Microwork* tasks are simple computer tasks that take 5 seconds to 5 minutes to complete and are usually considered to be quite boring for people in the West. It is our vision that an army of young people will be raised up in developing nations to do these tedious and boring microwork tasks. That is the idea behind the name - we have a huge international army of people waiting to help you with your project work. They are similar to outsourcing sites such as eLance or oDesk but MUCH more niche (only spreadsheet work or business card digitization) and focused on less-skilled, quick tasks - some call this the emerging "crowdsourcing" industry.
We don't want the Army theme to be too prevalent in terms of war because the idea is to convey that all of our sites use "human-powered" work from an Army of anxious workers. But playing off the theme in a fun way (see dogtag idea in requirements) could work well.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Both sites target tech-savvy business people who want to get this sort of work done quickly and cheaply. We are definitely looking for a modern, web 2.0 look and feel that will appeal to this sort of audience.
BizcardArmy allows people to use our iPhone or BlackBerry application to take photos of business cards, the images get sent to our server and then an army of REAL people will enter the data accurately within 24 hours. Your device then has the data entered into the address book automatically.
SpreadsheetArmy uses Google Spreadsheets as a tool to complete data entry, web research, data correction, image tagging and other projects. The work is split up into small microwork tasks that our microworkers complete and the client sees the Google Spreadsheet populated real-time as each task is completed.
We are creating a network of microwork sites and need a simple logo template we can use in the future. Please see this wonderfully executed example:
This project is only for the first two (SpreadsheetArmy.com and BizcardArmy.com) and they will be almost identical with the same font and same icon background such as the example above.
The icon background should be a circle, square or even an army "dogtag" shape with another simple logo representing a spreadsheet or a business card overlayed.
We want an icon and wordmark in the logo with the placement of the icon either on the left or possibly between the words:
Each of the two logos should incorporate 1 or 2 unique colors to differentiate them from each other and be the base color scheme for each website (such as you can see in the Envato marketplace by visiting http://www.3docean.net and http://www.activeden.net)
Be creative, keep it simple, think fresh, modern and Web 2.0 ... and wow us!
