Melbourne Cocoaheads is a group devoted to discussion of Apple Computer’s Cocoa Framework for programming on iOS and OS X. During monthly meetings, members present their projects and offer tutorials on various programming topics. Topics also include design, user experience, indie development, consulting and distribution on the App stores. The Melbourne chapter of Cocoaheads was formed in mid 2007.
Please review the attached design brief.
My initial concept is that of a badge. Each Australian Cocoaheads chapter would have their own unique badge, but size, style, shape and colour could have elements which tie them all together as being part of a larger group.
Another alternative is to use the typography to link the groups. The logo doesn’t necessarily need to be an enclosure. It could be an icon or glyph with the words ‘Melbourne Cocoaheads’ underneath. The typeface and layout of the wording could be made consistent with the other chapters, e.g ‘Syndey Cocoaheads’ to link the groups, freeing the logo itself to be quite different between the groups.
I’d like to keep the lines simple and clean, but use of textures and materials should also be considered. The logo itself might make reference to local landmarks like the Art Centre spire in Melbourne or the Opera House in Sydney.
