I am a student at Sonoma state university on the Sonoma Student Union Corporation board as the chair of PR and Marketing. We as a corporation do not currently have a logo to identify ourselves from other organizations and auxiliaries on campus. Our union encompasses and finances campus recreation, sport clubs, intramurals, camps, outdoor recreation, and technical services. We are very involved in the technical aspects of SSU. We are essentially our own company and own our own building on campus and pay for various attributes for student life, while trying to secure revenues for future needs. The students have a small fee every semester from which we use to pay student employees, or buy new equipment for the rec center, etc. The logo will represent our board that makes things possible. There are 8 student members and 8 faculty/ staff members. The students run the show however, we are the committee chairs and act as the board of directors, but not because we have to be, but because student involvement is a must. We the students plan the programs, advise audits, consult budgets and make things happen.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our audience is anyone what will see what we are doing on campus, works for us, or who would legally or financially be involved with our auxiliary outside of SSU. For example: when we put up posters advertising and event, stationary, business cards, pens, shirts, etc. Currently the our campus is trying to get the students approval to build a new build, which we are beginning to campaign for along with other campus organizations, and frankly know one knows who we are even though the campus wouldn't function without what we do.
We would like a simple graphic/icon that incorporates our name, Sonoma Student Union Corporation, the year we were established, 1971, and a way to represent the 8 students and 8 board members. I would like to stick to two colors do differentiate students and staff. However if you think it needs three I'm not completley against it Obviously it needs to be appropriately targeted for the professional student atmosphere, and not a frat house. It would be nice if the words flowed with the logo, so they are not standing off to the side like the examples I have attached. Other than that have fun, I will bring it to my committee meeting as soon as you guys have something for me present. The students will be voting on the one we choose.
