The WSA is the recognized student voice at public colleges and universities in Washington State, representing over 120,000 students to the Washington State Legislature and statewide agencies. The mission of the WSA is to maintain affordable, accessible, and quality higher education through student involvement in the decision-making and policy development process. WSA engages in grassroots organizing on campus; lobbying at the state capitol; conducts trainings & workshops to develop student leaders; and runs voter registration, education, & mobilization campaigns. The WSA was founded in 1982 as the Washington Student Lobby. In May 2009 students chose to change the WSL’s name to the Washington Student Association to better reflect the breadth of activities and direction of the organization. Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We have two very different audiences, students & legislators/others in public policy, with such differences between these groups we realize one logo cannot incorporate everything we suggest here:
We would like the logo to appeal to students so they can identify it as representing them or to prompt them to find out more about us, which could be something iconic of college. Our main focus with students is involvement through grassroots organizing and advocacy, which could be represented by something that conveys energy, activism, or involvement in the legislative process.
For legislators we need a logo that appears professional; that shows we are not just a campus club, but a mature organization focused on in-depth work on higher education policy. Since we are a statewide organization, it could also include something that is representative of Washington State as a whole.
• The design must look good in color as well as black and white.
• Able to be used for letterhead, website, banners, or placards.
• The logo must contain "WSA."
• Spelling out "Washington Student Association" is optional.
• See target audience section for further suggestions.
