Sun Spot
After years of electrical utility work, I'm going into business selling mini donuts, coffee, tea and hot chocolate at farmer's markets, fairs and festivals.
After 30 years moving through the electrical trades and into management at the local electric utility, I became a consultant in asset management. I set up a company, Sun Smith Inc., and had a logo created (attached), which I like.
Now I'm moving on to different things. It will be a family affair, with my husband and I to start. We'll be selling across the United States, giving us a chance to travel. Our menu will be mini donuts and beverages, but may expand to other items.
We are going to make the donuts be as healthy as fried food can be, no trans fat and low saturated fat. We also will use a part of our net profits to sponsor a child (or more).
The mini donuts are made using the Lil' Orbits machine, you can see the machine and pictures of donuts at "http://www.lilorbits.net". The initial choices will be plain, cinnamon sugar or powder sugar toppings. The mini donuts are the main attraction - the beverages are just to enhance the donut experience.
Impulse food buyers, that will be coming back for more. At farmer's markets - we expect repeat business, people who recognize our logo and know the donuts taste great. At festivals and fairs - we want to catch the eye of the person walking down the fairway.
Additionally, food booth selectors. To get into fairs, festivals, markets and sporting events I will need to send proposal submittals to these decision makers. I need them to be impressed with my professionalism, follow through, and ability to attract customers (they often take a percentage of sales for their space fee).
A logo that will be used on the booth/concession trailer, business cards, and stationary. Playing on the sun, or the outline of the sun from the existing logo is fine, but not required. Also, identify the font that should be used with the logo.
The company name should be part of the overall logo, while the words "mini donuts" or "donuts" should NOT. Mini Donuts will be part of the bigger signage for the booth/concession trailer and any advertising. Often the logo will be much smaller than the surrounding print.
I like uncomplicated designs. If it can be in colors that trigger folks to be hungry, great (I haven't a clue what they might be).
Hinting at or having frosted, sprinkle covered, and chocolate donuts, along with cinnamon rolls (spirals) are not likely to be among the finalists, since those aren't among the initial products we'll be selling.
I'm open to your ideas. Questions, let me know.
Thanks,
-Pam
