Lumilant
Lumilant is a brand new technology company led by PhD-level engineers who have spent the last decade in the labs developing completely novel technology concepts in the area of photonics and optics. Think 'disruptive innovation'... which means: "a technology that doesn't yet exist and that the market is not even expecting it!" Lumilant is positioned to impact the telecom/datacom industry, as well as the high performance computing industry. Using nanotechnology, Lumilant is developing ultra-small (ie. nano!) photonics devices that telecom companies, for instance, can integrate into their technology. Pure innovation!
The name Lumilant comes from the latin word Lumen - light! Light because everything we do is based upon the manipulation of light.
Lumilant wishes to come across as established as companies like Agilent and Luxtera. Key words that best describe Lumilant's company are: super-innovative, cutting-edge, and experienced.
Clean, simple, sophisticated - more key words to keep in mind. Brands like Nortel, Avaya, Oracle are admired by our CEO for their simplicity. No Nike-like swooshes that are overly used - the thing to avoid!
Lumilant is a spin off of the photonics group at EM Photonics. Perhaps the description at http://www.emphotonics.com/services/photonics can help illustrate what they do.
Lumilant's clients are large companies in the telecom/datacom and high performance computing markets.
It doesn't have to have a 'consumer' appeal like a sports/fashion brand since our clients will be technology companies that care about the innovative technology you have to offer and whether or not it will help them improve their own technology.
Our clients will come to us for the conceptualization, design and development of new photonics/optics- based devices.... so they need to know we are both innovative and highly capable.
Color scheme - black, gray and red is the ideal combination. Think Lucent Technologies. (the old logo)
Font types we like - Naked Power is an example. It's a geometric/industrial sans-serif font. Blue Highway is another one. Simple, but with a twist.
The key requirement is that it needs to look good both on a business card and a shirt. (as well as web site, trade show graphics, etc)
The 3-D, ultra-shiny concepts are not quite what we are looking for when it comes to the icon that may be created to go with the name Lumilant. But it doesn't have to be flat either.
Lumilant or lumilant... all lower caps is something we like... seems more modern...
I hope this is enough. Please feel free to ask me for any additional information. This is my first time here, so forgive me if I am not being clear enough.
