nerdglee.com
I'm the founder of small startup, GreenTongue Software (http://www.greentongue.com). I'm a software developer with a couple decades of experience. I'm starting a technical blog about developing software (iPhone/iPad/Android) at http://www.nerdglee.com. I'll be blogging about technical issue, tools, small business startup stuff, gadgets, and what ever else I feel like that causes nerdglee. This blog will be informative, but also fun to read, ironic, decidedly non-corporate, and maybe even edgy if I can manage it.
Definition of nerdglee: http://www.nerdglee.com/nerdglee-definition/
The blog will be for technical folks from programmers to uber-geeks and people starting bootstrapped startups. Someone who frequents stackoverflow.com would probably read this blog. Maybe someone who read gizmodo or lifehacker as well, though this will be more technically oriented than those blogs.
I want the logo to be whimsical, colorful, and not boringly corporate. I want the blog to look clean and that it's not been designed by a typical programmer, e.g. crammed with all kinds of widgets and boxes and stuff that is of questionable value, and so the logo should fit with that minimalist design. I want people to think that the blog (and logo) looks nice and modern (e.g. web 2.0), though I know that the many or most may just use a rss reader to consume the content. The logo will also be used on twitter of course. Also, the blog will be kept with very simple colors, e.g. white background, because it will be geared toward readability.
For the logo, I have in mind a cartoon style. I think having a propeller hat as part of it would be humorous and basically what I have in mind, though I'm not married to the idea. Maybe the hat could be on something that represents the internet, or technology, or something. Something like a globe. Or not. Maybe it shouldn't be on anything. I think you get what I'm driving at. Nerdglee is a funny word. Nerdglee is what powers the propeller hat. Hence, what I'm thinking for the logo.
I'm looking forward to your designs.
