ManhattanWest is amixed-use project featuring residences, shops, restaurants, and office space on 20 acres located 10 minuteswest of the Las Vegas Strip.
The Design Project: We're looking for a graphic theme that will unify the interior signs and other building ID both inside and outside our four story mid-rise buildings.
It's an opportunity for you to create something with a much longer life than a typical logo or web icon.
There are several different sign styles in the building (unit number, directional, mail room, etc.). We are looking for you to create one universal theme that we'll adapt the winning design to all of the sign formats ourselves.
The finished product you'll deliver will be more conceptual. You don't have to worry about how the signs gets built or produced- just what the general look and feel will be.
The easiest way to represent your theme will probably be to show us what it would like in one sample sign.
If you want to show different designs for a few different sign styles as in the PDF (link below), feel free, but it's not necessary.
While the projectis located 10 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, you’ll want to draw ona more urban, sophisticated design palette, and avoid anything that says Las Vegas or has a distinctive New York feel. For example: A little art deco influence could work-- topping the sign with a profile of the Chrysler Building wouldn't.
Our Customers: ManhattanWest buyers will typically be evenly split male and female, 25-55,professional, singles or younger couples, and emptynesters.
Design Direction:You'll find a PDF here which shows the lobby design of our buildings as well as a sample board with some of the materials we're using. The bolder and busier material will be used sparingly for accent, so be careful about drawing too much on them.
You'll also find three sample concepts. We like concept A much more than we like B and C but we are open to looking at any ideas. You can view renderings of the building exteriors at ManhattanWest.com. Please note that you're designing for the more traditional looking four story buildings - NOT for the nine story glass and steel building.
Because we're not using these concepts as final art there is no requirement that you create the images in vector format, or even digitally. If you're more comfortable doing color sketches and scanning them, that's fine.
Materials: As the concepts in the PDF show, the signs can be dimensional, multi-layered, and can use different materials. If you have a concept that you envision would use different layers or materials calling these out in the concept so we know what you're thinking is helpful but absolutely necessary. For example, if you want to use a piece of frosted plexiglass as the background, draw an arrow to it in your concept and label it.
If you know that you want something to look like copper, you don't have specify 1/16" sheet copper, but can just say something like "Copper Metal Finish" and we'll take it from there.
If you have questions please don't hesitate to ask before you start designing. If you want specific feedback on your design, please ask. We're happy to give it but won't necessarily comment on designs that are clearly not a fit unless the designer requests it when submitting.
Thanks for your interest, we're looking forward to another successful contest.
