Bring the Song
The Bring the Song Project started as a simple idea; aspiring songwriters helping one another to write one song a month for one year. At the end of the year, we would pick a few of our favorites and make a CD. We expected a small community with a few submissions. Instead, we received nearly 500 original songs from artists all over the planet.
In conjunction with the Youtube community, the first year was an astonishing success. So much so that we will be extending the concept to further promote amateur and home-made music with a series of grants, contents, and CD compilations.
This design project is to make the cover for the first “Bring the Song” compilation CD. This will be a printed CD cover and used to promote the album sales. 14 songs from some of the participants of the first year’s songwriting challenge.
The album volume is directed at the youtube songwriting community and the ukulele community at ukuleleunderround.com (they contributed heavily to the project). These range widely in age, geography, and gender – and even musical taste, but share a few traits:
Fans of amateur music
Acoustic music
folk & roots music
Many ukulele players from Ukuleleunderground.com (for this volume)
Youtube (all submissions were from people who publish almost exclusively through youtube)
Front Cover - Primarily a logo incorporating the text:
"Bring the Song"
"Volume I"
Back Cover -
Text is to be determined, but it needs to have room for 14 titles and artisit names
A simple border to match the front would suffice.
I'd like to go for a vintage feel - something with warmth and whimsy. Think organic. These are fun folks who really put themselves out there - many performing for the very first time. It's simple music for the sake of making it.
Actual cover size is 4.75 x 4.75"
Supplied graphics should be 5.0 x 5.0" to allow for bleed edge
The 5x5 graphics will be centered inside of a 4.75" square
