The Institute for Policy Studies has a Program on Inequality and the Common Good. We've focused on the dangers of concentrated wealth and power and how they undermine our democracy, economy and civic life.
http://www.inequality.org will be a new portal for research data on inequality, commentary, analysis, and a gateway to our various programs, projects and partner organizations.

This will be a WordPress site and we would like to adapt from the default WordPress 3.0.1 theme Twenty Ten. So we would prefer if the edges of the theme were 980px wide.
Be creative but we aren't necessarily looking for anything too extreme. A simple stylized text header may well do. This should be a resource portal that looks trustworthy and authoritative on the issue of inequality. It should also be clean, intuitive, and easy to use.
We are interested in a design that doesn't include iconic or stereotypical images of inequality: dollar signs, poor people, canyons, money, fancy cars, mansions, shacks, unbalanced scales, etc.
We need an attractive site that will showcase the problem of inequality in our society. This will also serve as a portal to many non-profit and community projects that are trying to tackle the big problem of inequality in our society.
At the top we would highlight a Too Much newsletter signup form.
We envision a site with perhaps 3 columns.
The left most column will include image links to different projects of ours including:
Below that would be links to other partner organizations
The middle column we imagine will be a listing of featured items that highlight some of the latest research around inequality. This may include charts and graphs.
The right column will include a chart pack at the top which people can go to a page and download the main charts, statistics, and talking points on inequality in our society.
Under that will be a space for 3 different columnists with a preview of their latest article.
The page should also include social media buttons and the Facebook and Tiwitter widgets like you see on http://republicorp.us/
A menu will include links to home, about, data/analysis, commentary, partners, contact us, donate.
The site will eventually replace http://extremeinequality.org/ and act as a portal for other sites on inequality.
