Poker in the Park is the world's largest poker fair, held in London's Leicester Square. A number of marquees are erected, each running a different poker based activity. Last year saw 20,000 poker players attend to play in one of the hourly, free 80-man poker tournaments running every hour; listen to celebrity poker players give lectures; play on the electronic heads up tables; buy cut-price poker merchandise and interact with poker brands running a range of poker based activities.
Our aim is to get the UK excited about poker and widen its appeal into the mainstream.
Poker players, mainly male and over 18
The 2010 event site is already live but fails to communicate a real sense of the event. On one hand, it needs to showcase sponsors and what they’re doing in their marquees, but it also needs to be exciting enough to tempt those into attending who haven’t been before and aren’t sure what to expect.
The YouTube clip (on http://www.pokerinthepark.com) should give you an idea of what the event is like. We want to keep this video on the new site.
There is likely to be 10 to 15 different sponsored marquees and each will need to show a logo, a description and often a photo.
The three main marquees which are biggest draw are:
2 Poker tournament marquees:
Running 80-man poker tournament starting every hour in each of the 2 poker tournament marquees. The schedule, along with the logo of the company which is sponsoring the individual tournament, needs to be shown.
Poker lecture marquee:
There is a different speaker every 45 mins, so again we need to be able to show the schedule, the name of the speaker, a photo and, ideally, a short bio, although not essential.
Have a look at the attached screen-grab of last year’s website to give you a better idea of the type of info we need.
We also have many photos from last year, so a slide show would be a nice element but not essential.
Fairly happy with the header, so unless you have a great idea, just design below
