Alchemy Solutions is in the mainframe migration and modernization business. We provide a suite of tools to help mainframe users move their boring old applications out of the stone age. We'd love your help designing a web 2.0 look and feel around this sample site that currently looks just like it would on an IBM 3270 green screen terminal.
We've received a couple of requests to make the contest blind, so we will be doing so momentarily. Thanks in advance for your participation!
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our target audience consists of larger and older companies, as those are the most common owners of mainframes. Banks, insurance companies, and publishing companies are good examples.
We have seven very simple (yes, boring) web pages that are basically vanilla HTML. These pages show simple functionality for a fictional video rental store. They are created as one of our sample applications. We would like to expand the demo to show how someone might beautify these ASP.NET pages so that they are much more compelling than the plain converted versions.
The flow of the web site can be seen in the attached .jpg images, in alphabetical order. Start with vs1x.jpg. If the user presses "1" from that screen, they would see vs2x_1.jpg and vs2x_2.jpg. etc...
* Avoid using flash/silverlight animations
* Page styles are ideally managed via master css file
* Modern web 2.0 look and feel
* Fictional company name and logo are nice but not required, such as Alchemy Video.
