There's an old proverb, "When an old person dies, a library burns to the ground." Poïesis is a film studio that seeks to capture the stories of people, cultures, and lands that are disappearing. We try to honor and preserve these stories before they go. Unlike my other production company Broccoli (which creates zany, uplifting content focused on common ground) most of Poïesis' content has more gravitas and focuses on humanity's uncommon ground. Our work tries to highlight unity without uniformity and promote plurality without canceling commonality. Also, just to let you know, from a design perspective, I'm a huge fan of M.C. Escher and Salvador Dali and love negative space design (but that doesn't mean you have to submit something in those styles or with negative space design we've also been excited by loose, scribbly stuff and even some more 3d designs spoke to us as well. It's very open to your interpretation!).

Simple and straightforward--almost cliche to have a film reel in the shape of a letter--but the way the "M" is drawn looks fresh and cool. So it's the execution and crafting the of the "m" which really stands out to me and shows that even an overdone concept can be fresh in the right hands.
I'm usually not a fan of logos that are too complex, but this one manages to be in 3D space and look just as good as any other flat design logo, but the 3D space gives it an edge, making it feel more professional and more active of a brand--one that is leaning in to get the job done.

I’m open to ideas on the type of logo that’s best for my brand, but we are hoping for a combination logo with a word mark and a logo symbol.
