The concept loosely follows the current scientific discoveries. This exoplanet is tidally locked in the habitable zone of its parent star Proxima Centauri, so one side is always facing the sun. One half is forever hot and arid with a never-ending day, and the other is a permanently frozen night world.
The only livable region with liquid water would be a narrow area where these two hemispheres meet, portrayed with a greenish band and scattered lakes on the illustration.
The Alpha Centauri binary star system is visible near the red dwarf star, with the Milky Way galaxy in the background.
