She wanted a fantasy portal that would transport her main character to another world, and I provided it for her! She also wanted music incorportated into the cover because the main character loved music... so I added subtle music notes to the spell particles around the portal. It was the most unique of the entries (according to the author) and also the most risky. I decided to take the concept of a man and wife with a ball and chain strapped to their ankles. Instead of the ball and chain holding them down, it became balloons and lifted them up, allowing them to climb the mountain together.")

I wanted to create a rainbow visual effect while still showing off the spices that are commonly used in Indian dishes. This minimalistic style is not usually what I prefer to make, but the author requested it.")

I created a skull from a combination of photography and digital illustration, then used Adobe Illustrator to create a scribbled feel to it so it was more abstract.")

The cover was meant to feature the villain of the novel on a cliff overlooking the village below. I wanted to show the villain without going into too much detail about his face - that way readers could imagine him however they wanted.I added beautiful mountains and villages to create a true fantasy feel, and every detail from the staff to the rocks on the cliff were hand picked by me from independent photographers that I work with (never stock photos).")

I don't like making detailed character faces on book covers - especially from stock photos - because I like the readers to be able to invent their own details about what characters should look like. I felt that the silhouette and drawing appearance of the london backdrop was perfect for a spy novel, and gave it a whimsical feel.")

I have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, but my real passion is art, and that is what I do for a living. I work with my clients to give them exactly what they want, and I always offer unlimited free revisions. I do everything from book covers to logos, and I love finding fresh new ways to envision designs.
